Parents,
Please pass along this video message to your student from the worship music pastor of Cathedral of Praise, Janton Barrineau, who has been a tremendous help in preparing us to go to the Music Festival. He could not be with us due to a family emergency.
The people he refers to in the video are our accompanist Dr. Wanda Litchenberg and our instrumental supervisor Sean Monahan.
Looking forward to a great day tomorrow!

SCISA Music Festival

Details for Thursday's SCISA Music Festival in Columbia:

-Soloists need to leave by 7:30 a.m. Kristi, can you drive our soloists? (Nicole, Lydia, Briana)
-Pianists need to leave by 9:30 a.m. Jennifer & Karie, can one of you drive our pianists? (Steven & Anderson)
-The rest of the group, the Ensemble, will need to leave by 9:30. I have the following parents designated as drivers, please let me know if you are still a "go" for driving: Heather, Amanda, and Phillip.

-Please pack a bag lunch. From what I've been told, there is really no good place to sit and eat together. We will eat in the cars, per Mrs. Brace's recommendation. So, don't pack anything messy!
-Students are to wear "Christmas in Black & White" outfit.
-Because of our late performance time, we will not be arriving back at the school until approximately 3:45-4:00.

In Other News:
-This week we will be doing a "read aloud" novel, in which the students will be listening and taking notes on important details such as characters, setting, and story details. There will be a test Friday and students may refer to their notes.
-Signed papers will not be going home today. Look for the next packet on Monday, 3/17.

Tomorrow is the day! Here are a few last minute notes, some of them you will already know.

-Arrive at 5 a.m. in the Building A parking lot.
-Arrive wearing your class shirt, comfortable pants, and comfortable shoes.
-We are expecting rain on Thursday, so bring an umbrella.
-For your "under the bus bag": shorts or pants for Friday, an extra shirt, undies, pajamas, socks, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste.
-For your "on the bus bag": spending money, quiet things to do, small pillow/blanket, jacket, phone/camera.
-Parents will have a cooler with ice available to keep your drinks cold.
-Students are to be with an adult at all times!
-The hotel pool is off limits. (safety issues)
-All "clipboard work" is expected to be completed and turned in by the end of the trip. Students may want to use a small backsack to keep up with their clipboard, pencil, camera, and anything else while at KSC. Be sure it is labeled with your first and last name.

3/5 Homework:
No schoolwork! Just be packed and ready to leave in the morning!

Tuesday, March 4, 2014

Students may bring a pillow/stuffed animal/blanket for our movie lesson on Apollo 13 tomorrow, if they wish. They may also bring a small bag of "already popped" popcorn. We won't have time for them to pop it at school.

Weather link for KSC. Go ahead and pack an umbrella, looks like we will need one on Thursday.

Here are a few things to help as you begin/continue packing and planning for our trip.

-We are meeting in the Building A parking lot at 5:00 a.m. on Thursday morning. Set an extra alarm, DO NOT BE LATE!

-Pack extra batteries. Even though the Gift Shop at KSC sells them, they are much more expensive than picking them up here and packing an extra set!

-Electronics will not be able to be charged on the bus. Be sure you charge any phones, ipods, tablets, etc. before the trip or at the hotel on Thursday night.

-Be sure to use the packing list I sent last week to be sure you don't forget anything you will need. It is smart to pack an "under the bus bag" and a small "on the bus bag."

-Be prepared to contribute to the bus driver tip. This gratuity is not included in the trip cost, I will pass an envelope around either Thursday or Friday evening. As a guideline, most people offer $5-$10 per family for this.

-Snacks/drinks will be provided throughout the trip for the kiddos. Parents will want to pack and bring their own snacks. I will have cooler, with ice, designated for parents to use.

-All meals for the kiddos are covered, as well. Parents will have breakfast provided on both days. You will need to bring money for lunches and supper for both days.

Homework 3/3:
Reading- Countdown Test Wednesday
Spelling- study all CE lists!
Math- CW 195-196/ HW 106
Science- study CCs
