Dress Down Week – Winter 2011
The junior class is sponsoring a winter dress down week from Feb. 7-11. Students are invited to purchase a wristband and participate in each themed dress down day. Days are as follows:
Monday – College or Professional Sports Day / Jeans
Tuesday – Logo (appropriate) T-Shirt Day / Jeans
Wednesday – 80’s Day / Jeans (leggings and/or tights are not to be worn as pants)
Thursday – Country Day / Jeans
Friday – Hat Day
Students can participate for $2/day for Monday-Thursday and $1 for Friday, or $7 for the entire week. Buying wristbands for the entire week will save $2. If students purchase wristbands by the day and not for the entire week, they must be purchased the day before during lunch.
Students must observe the CA dress code with the exception of appropriate logos/graphics (Monday-Thursday), jeans (all week), and hats (Friday only). If a student does not have a wristband for the corresponding day, he/she will be considered out of dress code and will be asked to change clothes. Students wearing inappropriate logos or graphics will be asked to change or cover their logo for the day. Please adhere to the school’s standards of good taste and modesty.
Have fun and enjoy your opportunity to dress down!

Fund-Raiser!
Fund-Raiser Information:
Fund-raising packets are going home today! Here is the scoop:
1) In each packet is a tracking sheet for taking orders for quarts of Rita’s ice. Just record the person’s name and check off how many quarts they are ordering. Each quart is $5. When you return your packet, I will give you a gift card for each quart sold with the buyer’s name on it. The tracking sheet also has a space for the buyer’s e-mail and phone number, if they wish to be put on the Rita’s e-mail list. They don’t have to list this if they don’t want to.
(For each quart sold, Rita’s is giving you $2.50 towards your trip balance!)
2) In each packet are five discount cards. These sell for $5 also and entitle the buyer to a 10% discount at Rita’s. These new cards have no expiration date and are re-usable! If you sell all five and need more, e-me and let me know.
(For each discount card, Rita’s is giving you $4 towards your trip balance!
The fund-raiser will start today and run through January 19. That will give me time to calculate balances, get balances collected, and make our final payments by January 28.
Lost cards are considered sold cards, so be careful with them. Last year, Hudson Perrine paid for her trip and all but $25 of her mom’s trip by selling these cards!

- 2 tbs. Mrs. Stewart's Bluing- I found this locally on the laundry aisle at Piggly Wiggly

Rock and Mineral News Project:
A new science project was assigned and gone over in class today. I personally hand wrote the name of the rock and mineral that your child was assigned on this week's agenda page. This project is due in two weeks, on Wednesday the 19th of January. Please look over it and hit me with any questions this week. This is a research project and will entail some library time, or some time on the internet at home. **Don't forget to keep a list of ALL sources used!
Kennedy Space Center:
If you haven't already, please see yesterday's post for more trip details!
Thanks:
to Kim Murray for providing the salt for today's lab!
Tutoring:
I will stay after school tomorrow from 2:45-3:15 to work with anyone that would like to stay after and work on algebraic equations. Just e-me and let me know if your child is staying. You can pick him/her up in my classroom at 3:15.
Monday, January 3, 2011
Kennedy Space Center
Trip dates: Leave at 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 17
Return at approx. 10:00 p.m. on Friday, February 18
Cost: $175 per person (We were able to drop the cost for students from $200 to $175 due to our Silly Band sales!)
Additional funding: I meet with Ben Stevens on January 4th to pick up Rita's fund-raising packets for any who wish to earn additional money off the cost of their trip. Unlike the Silly Bands, this will be an individual fundraiser. If you earn $100, it comes off your total, not the group's. If you DO NOT want a fund-raising packet sent home, e-me by Wednesday to let me know.
Please e-mail me the name of the adult going with your child, or if your child needs to be assigned a chaperone. Also, please e-me the t-shirt size for your child and for the adult going. Sizes are: Youth S, M, L and Adult S, M, L, XL, XXL. I need t-shirt sizes by Friday, January 7.
